WHY?

  • many oral anticancer drugs are approved by EMA each year
  • the complex treatment of often co-morbid oncology patients is moving from a supervised hospital setting to the patient’s home
  • potent oral anticancer drugs are generally dispensed in community pharmacies
  • patients must be well informed about their medicines by the pharmacist

Goals

  • to improve the quality of oncology patient counselling by pharmacists
  • to improve patients understanding of his or her pharmacotherapy and, consequently enhance adherence
  • potent oral anticancer drugs are generally dispensed in community pharmacies
  • to establish a best practice model available for implementation EU-countries
