Election 2026 – The nominations Greece

Stella Gkogkou

I have been a delegate member of ESOP since 2018, following a recommendation by the PEFNI board of directors. I work at Papageorgiou Hospital as a hospital pharmacist and have been actively involved in the cytostatic drug dilution unit since 2016. I have been a member and am currently vice-president of PEFNI and have contributed to the organisation of workshops, lectures and educational conferences on Pharmaceutical Oncology. Since then, I have participated in all ESOP General Assemblies and conferences, voting on important decisions for Pharmaceutical Oncology in Europe.
I hope that I still have a lot to offer as a delegate member of ESOP.


Despoina Makridaki

Despoina Makridaki (DM) is a hospital clinical pharmacist, with 38 years of relevant experience, holding a first MSc in Clinical Pharmacy and a second MSc in Management of Healthcare Units. She is the Director of Hospital Pharmacy Services at the “Sismanoglio – Amalia Fleming” G.H. of Attica (Greece), Between 1988-2002 seas working as hospital/ clinical pharmacist at Oncology Hospital of Attica “ GONK AGIOI ANARGYROI”.

President of Panhellenic Association of Hospital Pharmacists (PEFNI)and Member of PEFNI /Oncology Subgroup since 2013 and Director of Professional Development at the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (EAHP) since 2017, also member of E.A.H.P’s SC since 2014. Delegate member for Greece in ESOP since 2002, contributing to the introduction, translation and implementation starting from QUAPOS 4 in Greece.
DM represents Greece on EDQM/DG Sante, and represents EAHP at the EMA’s HPWP, EU-HERA/member of CSF and EU SANTE-HTA-Stakeholder Network.
She was appointed as 1st Vice President of National Organization for Medicines (E.O.F) in the period April 2015-June 2018. Active member of the Greek National Committee for the Surveillance of Pharmaceutical Expenditure and Therapeutic protocols since 2015, and of the Central Health Council since 2022. Also, regular member of the Coordinating National Committee for Shortages, member of the Working Group of Greek Ministry of Health for the advancement of Clinical Studies and Biomedical Research and the Committee for the strategic design and implementation of electronic prescribing and updating the National HIV Registry .


Karyofyllis Tsiakitzis

Dr. Karyofyllis Tsiakitzis is a senior hospital phamacist and Director of Pharmacy at a major tertiary university hospital in Greece, with extensive expertise in oncology and hematology pharmacy services, advanced therapies (ATMPs), CAR-T, and transplant support. He has led pharmacy teams in complex clinical environments, implementing quality systems aligned with European regulatory standards and reinforcing safe handling practices for hazardous medicinal products.

Dr. Tsiakitzis has been actively engaged in institutional advocacy for hospital and oncology pharmacists. He has consistently promoted transparency, accountability, and democratic participation within professional structures, emphasizing that strong representation at European level must be rooted in active national engagement.
His candidacy for Greek National Delegate to ESOP is driven by three priorities: strengthening the institutional presence of Greek oncology pharmacists in Europe ensuring open communication and direct participation of individual members in ESOP processes and contributing constructively to the strategic evolution of oncology pharmacy practice across member states.
Dr. Tsiakitzis believes that national delegation is not symbolic but operational: it requires measurable communication with members, regular reporting, alignment with ESOP policy developments, and active contribution to scientific and governance discussions. He supports harmonization of professional standards, continuous education, cross-border collaboration, and the reinforcement of ethical leadership within European oncology pharmacy.
With proven leadership experience, regulatory competence, and a clear European orientation, he seeks to represent Greece with responsibility, independence, and strategic vision — strengthening both national cohesion and European cooperation within ESOP.


Margarita Vlachou

Dr. Margarita Vlachou (born 1974) serves as Director of the Pharmacy Department at Evangelismos General Hospital in Athens. She graduated from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with a Pharmacy Degree (1998), followed by an MSc (2000) and PhD (2003) in Medicinal Chemistry. Her academic background has provided a solid scientific foundation for her subsequent clinical and administrative career.

She has been working in hospital pharmacy practice since 2003 and has held the position of Director since 2013. Throughout these years, she has been involved in the organization and daily coordination of pharmacy services within a large tertiary hospital, with responsibilities including operation of central cytotoxic preparation unit, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, clinical trial management, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Dr. Vlachou has extensive expertise in oncology and hematology pharmacy services, advanced therapies (ATMPs), CAR-T cells, Allo-BMT, transplant patients support and participated as a hospital pharmacist in numerous international Phase II and III clinical trials in hematology, transplantation, infectious diseases, and critical care. Her involvement has included investigational medicinal product management, adherence to study protocols, and compliance with ICH-GCP standards (certified 2025). She has also contributed to scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, reflecting her continued engagement with research and evidence-based practice.

As a candidate for ESOP Delegate, Dr. Vlachou aims to support constructive communication between Greek hospital pharmacists and the European Society of Oncology Pharmacy. She values collaboration, transparency, and the exchange of practical experience among European colleagues. Her intention is to contribute responsibly to ESOP discussions, encourage participation of national members, and help align local practice with broader European initiatives.

With more than two decades of professional experience, Dr. Vlachou offers steady leadership, a collaborative mindset, and a sincere commitment to representing her colleagues with professionalism and respect.
