Andreja Eberl
Andreja Eberl works as a hospital pharmacist at the Pharmacy department and Division of Medical Oncology at Institute of Oncology Ljubljana. Her main priority is to ensure quality and efficient care for oncology patients.
After defending her master thesis at Faculty of Pharmacy in Ljubljana in year 2007, she worked as a hospital pharmacist in charge of preparing antitumor drugs. Among other duties, she was actively involved in the establishment of a centralized preparation of cytostatic drugs and the implementation of e-prescribing and computerized preparation of antitumor drugs.
After completing her specialization in clinical pharmacy in 2011, she focused on working at clinical departments. She is currently working as a clinical pharmacist at the Department of Lymphoma Treatment, where she participates in a multidisciplinary team and supports decisions on patient care with the focus on pharmacotherapy. Among other services she successfully began systematically implement a concept of seamless pharmaceutical care at the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana. She is also a co-author of the Slovenian guidelines for the treatment of lymphomas.
She has extensive experience as a research pharmacist in phase II, III and IV clinical trials. Andreja is in charge of the professional aspect of public procurement for medicines at the hospital, within which she also pays special attention to economically sustainable operations and pharmacoeconomic research.

Igor Virant
Igor Virant was born on 02.03.1979 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. After graduating from Gimnazija Bežigrad, he enrolled at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Ljubljana, where in March 2004 he successfully graduated with thesis entitled ‘ Correlation between stomatal characteristics of Echinea purpurea and growing parameters and morphological and phytochemical properties of the plant’, which he completed under the mentorship of prof. dr. Samo Kreft. During his studies, he participated in a research project in the field of pharmaceutical technology and in 2003 received the Krka Prizes for his thesis entitled: ‘The influence of solvent and eudragit type on microspheres prepared by solvent evaporation method’. In November 2004, he was employed in hospital phramacy at the Institute of oncology Ljubljana. In 2010 he copmpleted his specialisation thesis at the Slovenian Pharmacy Chamber entitled ‘Aseptic production of parenteral antitumor drugs in a hospital pharmacy – basis for validation’ and thus obtained the title of clinical pharmacy specialist.
He works in the department for the central preparation of antitumor drugs in the pharmacy, where drugs are prepared using the computer program with gravimetric controlled manual and robotic preparation. In addition to ensuring the quality and safety of drugs preparation, he is actively involved in the course of treatment of individual patients.
As a hospital pharmacist, he is involved in professional committees in Slovenian and international associations (SFD, ESOP). He participated in the working group at the Slovenian Pharmacy Chamber (e.g. Electronic reporting of adverse drug reactions project EPIC – Empowering pharmacists to improve health care for oral chemotherapy patients: Establishment of a European best-practice model). As an invited lecturer, he participates in education for pharmacist and pharmaceutical technicians at the Pharmacy Chamber of Slovenia.
