Election 2026 – The nominations Sweden

Emelie Lefvert

I am a clinical pharmacist at Uppsala University Hospital in Sweden, working in the Department of Blood and Tumour Diseases. I hold a Master of Science in Pharmacy and a Master’s degree in Clinical Pharmacy from Uppsala University. My professional focus is oncology and hematology pharmacotherapy, where I work closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimize complex treatments for patients with cancer and advanced hematologic diseases.

In my clinical role, I support individualized pharmacotherapy through therapeutic drug monitoring, pharmacokinetic interpretation, drug–drug interaction management, and evidence-based treatment optimization. I am particularly interested in translating pharmacological knowledge into practical decision support in areas where treatments are costly, complex, and associated with significant safety considerations.

Through systematic medication reviews, optimization of treatment protocols, and collaboration with clinicians and hospital management, I have contributed to improving both the clinical quality and the sustainability of pharmacotherapy. Together with colleagues, this work has contributed to reducing the pharmaceutical expenditure of the Department of Blood and Tumour Diseases by approximately 20%, primarily through optimization of high-cost therapies and more rational use of oncology medicines.

Alongside my clinical work, I am pursuing a PhD part-time focusing on sustainable cancer care and optimization of high-cost immunotherapies. My research investigates biomarkers, pharmacokinetic strategies, and dosing optimization of immune checkpoint inhibitors such as nivolumab and pembrolizumab, with the aim of improving both patient outcomes and cost-effectiveness in routine clinical practice.

My professional interests include personalized oncology pharmacotherapy, pharmacokinetics, and strategies to ensure sustainable access to innovative cancer treatments.
